Radio Broadcast | Posted Sat, 6 Dec 2008 17:36:47 EST by Nick | Just as a heads-up, the TechCentric Crew is planning on doing a live radio stream. We don't have any specifics yet, so it might be wise to get on IRC or follow us on Twitter; we'll make sure to let you know when we're going live.
Make sure you bookmark radio2.lostcarrier.net:8000; we'll be broadcasting from there.
UPDATE: Technical difficulties aside, our broadcast went well, and it sounds like we're going to try to do them at least once in a while to cover any lack in video content we can produce. A special thanks to Foxx from BSoD for dropping in to chat, and thanks to everyone who listened in live.
A recording of the broadcast is available here. |
Tweeting It Up | Posted Fri, 14 Nov 2008 14:45:10 EST by Nick | Well, it's been exactly a week since we released Episode 2, and so far it's been a reasonable success given the length of time we've gone without so much as a peep. Of course, it wouldn't be a success without your help, so I thank all of you for being patient and for checking in with us.
In an attempt to connect with our viewers between episodes and get the word of new episodes and show-related material out the door (and perhaps getting some other fun things going?), I put up an account on Twitter. Follow it, reply to it, pass it around.
To offer up the mandatory status report, we've already got some of our next episode ready to go, even with me being away at school and all. I'm fairly confident that I can say we'll have an early-to-mid-December release (wait a minute...December...gift guide...) ready to go. In the meantime, there's always the forums and IRC to keep your tech interests placated.
TechCentric is back, and we're never gonna...no, wait...nevermind, I'm not Rick Astley. Just keep your eye out for some updates and new content, including a possible extra or two. |
Well it's finally here | Posted Fri, 7 Nov 2008 0:56:22 EST by Steve | After a long time coming, Episode 2 of Season 2 is finally arrived.
I won't go into a lengthy explaination here, but probably will on the
forums. At any rate, the episode is here and released, so go and get
it to ease your TechCentric withdrawls.
This should also mark
the speed up of new episodes. There was quite a long point there
(almost a year) where we had barely released content. We just want to
let everyone know that we are still here and still working.
Why are you still reading this? Go download the episode
One
final note. In the commercial, the audio is done by our friend Alex
Wiklund and I would like to appologize for putting his link down wrong
in the credits and final thanks. The correct link to access him and his
music is here.
Thanks again for sticking with us, those who have! |
Episode 2 Coming Soon | Posted Sat, 21 Jun 2008 16:28:22 EDT by Nick | We're currently midway through the filming and editing process; provided everything goes well (and I see no reason why it won't), we should be able to have the episode out before the end of the month.
But since me posting here is useless, here's a quick...well, not really teaser so much as just a quick blurb for you.
Remember, suggestions and comments are always welcome; you can post to the forums (which are looking pretty barren about now), join us on IRC, or send e-mail to the crew. Come on, we'd really like to hear from you! |
Making Progress | Posted Sat, 21 Jun 2008 15:47:36 EDT by Steve | Most of the things I need to edit footage are back up and running, so production on this next episode is going well. Everyone can expect a release soon. We are working diligently to get the rest of this finished up.
On a different note, I am experimenting with screen printing for T-shirts. If you are interested in shirts or other merch, let me know at steve@techcentric.org. Potential price on these will be around $10-12 a shirt as soon as we perfect the process. Thanks again for everyone's patience and hope to hear some feedback!

Production Underway | Posted Wed, May 14 2008 21:46:02 EDT by Nick | We're currently working on getting things together to film our new episode. Apart from a small setback in the way of a hard drive failure on our set-PC, we're making progress and you should be watching our work within the next week or two.
And I've put in a few minutes of time to add a new feature to the Episodes page. As of today, you can click the thumbnail listed for each episode for a "scene thumbnail" with approximately 16 frames from that episode. I think it's just another way to double-check that you're getting what you want rather than blindly guessing.
Hold on just a while longer. You'll get your fix of TechCentric yet! |
TechCentric...Now on Facebook | Posted Wed, May 14 2008 20:21:18 EDT by Nick | Alright, we've given in.
Due to some slight nudging, we've gone ahead
and started a new Facebook group for viewers of our show. If this goes
well, we might expand onto other platforms (but we'll see).
Join
the group at the URL below, then share it with any friends you know who
watch as well. And stay tuned for news updates; who knows what we might
be announcing in the coming weeks... >.>

And We're Back...Redux | Posted Wed, May 14 2008 20:21:48 EDT by Nick | I know you guys
hate stories, and I hate having to give them, because overall it just
wastes everyone's time. But just to keep you updated on what's
happening in the world of TechCentric, I figured I'd spend a few
seconds and explain.
First off, the reason everything's just barely running right now is
because of a hard drive failure on the dedicated server I own and use
to host the TechCentric site from. While it took me only a few seconds
to get a new drive, it has been a problem trying to upload several
gigabytes in episodes back to the server (again) to make you guys
happy. I apologize for the downtime, and I hope we don't have to go
through it again. As you can see, I've spent quite a bit of time
getting everything back from my latest backups, and the only thing to
do at this point is finish uploading the episodes. They will all be available in about a day or so, so PLEASE check back. For now, you can download Season 2 Episode 1.
(All Extras are uploaded, and the forums and IRC are running, so please
let your voice be heard and entertain yourself with some TechCentric
shorts and episodes of BSoD in the meantime.)
The next item on the agenda involves the next episode of the show.
I'm finishing up school in less than two weeks, which means that once
again the crew should be back together and fully able to produce a
show. I know I've got some stuff lined up that I want to cover, and
I'm pretty sure everyone else has a few ideas they want to see happen
as well, so it should be a good episode.
Please let me know if you see anything broken, and hang in there...you're bound to see something new from us yet.
- Nick
EDIT 1: As the episodes upload, they will
automatically be made available for your download. On the episodes
page, if the file format of the episode you're looking at is shown as 0
MB, the file hasn't been uploaded yet and you'll need to check back in
a few hours. If there is a reasonable file size listed, the file is
available for your download.
EDIT 2: All episodes should be available for download as of right now in either DivX or iPod format. I apologize to the WMV users, we have to re-encode all of them
(which works out, I guess, as we had a few complaints about quality).
EDIT 3: Yes, I realize the episode thumbnails are
missing. Those will be replaced as soon as I can. Sooner, if I can
convince Will or Steve to do them. |
And We're Back... | Posted Wed, May 14 2008 20:22:11 EDT by Nick | My apologies for the site being so long in coming back up. We've
been busy dealing with things...well, I think you're used to the sob
story already, so I won't even bother with it. Rest assured that I'm
trying to work on everything as fast as I can. You'll probably
encounter broken bits and pieces for the next few days while I iron out
the wrinkles in the transition.
As you might have figured out,
we've moved servers. PhreakBox is no longer with us due to some
complications that arose in its management. However, I am pleased to
announce that we are now hosting from a newer and better dedicated
server in Michigan, which will hopefully be more central to the
majority of our audience. There's some additional benefit from this
transfer that I'll cover in a moment.
Because PhreakBox is no longer with us, it means that I wasn't
able to secure any usable backups of the site content that I could
transfer, and while I made sure to keep offsite backups, it seems that
some of them are unusable in some respect and the others are not that
recent. I've taken steps to make sure that this won't happen again,
and that if for some reason it does, we won't be on our backs with
nothing to do.
As of this point, we have DivX and iPod encodes available for your download, and I'll get the WMV back as soon as I can.
As
part of this new move, the IRC server has moved once again. While
accessible from irc.techcentric.org as always, we now have merged with
our friends from BSoD to show a bit more of our unity. If you want to
check out how some of this is going, I suggest you check
LostCarrier.net (I realize that's also the name of my server...), the
project's new website. If you're new, stop in, as we're always open to
strangers and guests. And if you're old hat...well, we've missed you
if you've not already found the path.
That's enough blabbering for now; I better get back to work.
EDIT: I'd also like to add a thank you to Famicoman, who through
some tendency to be a bit of a packrat, ended up backing up things even
the crew didn't have. So, thanks for all the help in getting us back
up, Famicoman! |
